Kworld Multimedia Pvr Plus
I've got a collection of home video on compact VHS that I wanted to record and share with the family on YouTube. Didn't want to spend a lot so I figured I'd try this solution. Works great!! Very simple to use. Plugged in the audio and video from my VHS-C camcorder into the unit, plugged the unit into my PC with the USB and line in audio jack, installed the drivers (I'll get to that), installed the included Cyberlink PowerDirector software, and was up and running in minutes. A couple of things to note that other reviewers have probably pointed out. This unit arrived with two discs, one with drivers and one with the Cyberlink software.
I didn't even touch the driver disc. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, and I used the DVD Maker USB 2.0 drivers from[.] They won't install unless it detects the device, so plug the device in and let Windows find it. Then run the setup file in this driver package you downloaded. If you're not sure if setup succeeded you should be able to look in Device Manager, under Sound, video and game controllers, and see an entry called 'USB 2860 Device'. Install the included Cyberlink PowerDirector. Make sure your camcorder (or whatever source you're using) is connected and powered on, Launch Director, go to the capture tab, and start your video.

You should be seeing and hearing it. Record at will! If you don't have sound then you may need to go into your Windows mixer settings and either enable the jack, set it as your audio input, and/or adjust your line in volume. As for recording, the unit also has a single button that you can press to start and stop recording.
It's a neat feature, or you can press the record and stop button in the application. I haven't tried any of the editing features of this software because honestly, I'm really not interested in that. All I use the PowerDirector software for is to capture and save the video files. Once I have them saved, I use a great freeware tool called Freemake Video Converter [.]to do any edits. The most I do is trim some video so nothing fancy.
Freemake then lets you output to pretty much any video format, but what I really like is I can post my files (including any edits) straight to my YouTube account. I've only ran into a couple of minor issues. The first, which if I understand correctly, isn't a fault of the hardware, but rather the software.
Sometimes when trying to start recording, a message will pop up saying something about 'Copyright video detected and recording is prohibited.' Even though these are my home videos. After some Googling, I've found that this has something to do with the old Macrovision copy protection, and can be triggered if the source video has a bad signal. Totally not surprised, since these are old tapes from the late 90s and early 2000s. Hasn't happened enough that it's a problem, and when it does happen I just hit record again and it usually starts. The only other issue is that it doesn't appear to keep up when I'm rewinding/fast forwarding thru my videos. The video on screen either pauses or is jerky, but this isn't a big deal because I can look thru the viewfinder on the camera when I'm skipping thru video to find where I want to start recording.
Citizen Aqualand Ii Jp1010 00e Manual Arts. I don't know enough about this to know if this is the hardware or software issue. If I had another piece of capture software I could test it, but like I said, it's not really a big deal for my uses. So in summary. Pros: Works great, quick to setup and start recording, hardware button control to start/stop recording, nice price. Cons: Live feed when searching doesn't keep up, infrequent copyright material pop up. The manufacturer changed the chipset used in this device but did not change the packaging, the description, or the sku (VS-USB2800D).
